STAA Community Orchard

STAA manages 4 areas on St Ann's Allotments.
Our Community Orchard is a space for schools, families and young people to explore, play and relax.
Our Heritage Garden includes a restored Victorian Glasshouse and ornamental gardens.
Our Nursery plots are filled with fruit, veg and flowers and home of our Community Harvest and learning opportunities.
Finally, Urban Nature is our wildlife space, and an opportunity to get close to nature.

There is ample roadside parking adjoining the site, and car parking is available within site (with prior arrangement) for those with mobility issues.

no.40/41 buses are very regular stop within 5 minute walk. no. 42 buses stop even closer, though not quite as frequent.

Staff are available to discuss accessibility issues prior to visits.

STAA's projects sit within the Grade 2* listed Heritage site of St Ann's Allotments. The plots were once Victorian Pleasure Gardens and have a rich history. STAA's projects include many heritage features, including a Victorian Glasshouse and summerhouse. Our Heritage Garden also demonstrates gardening through the 20th Century - particularly allotment gardening in WW2, and also the presence of members of the Windrush generation on St Ann's Allotments. https://staa-allotments.org.uk/heritage-garden/

STAA runs a wide range of activities, including school visits, community open days, toddler groups, social gardening sessions. We also offer many volunteering opportunities in horticulture and wildlife conservation, and offer a programme of skills development, including qualifications in Horticulture and a workshop programme.
